Today's shot is a simple high key headshot. That is the subject on a completely white background.

This shot was taken with 2 flashes behind a shower curtain for a backdrop, and a single flash in an umbrella to camera left. The subject is my 13 year old son, Jacob. I had to pull him away from the computer to force him to pose for a little while.

Today's pic is a small toy model taken at Bakersfield Budo. I did photoshop in the moon, but that's about it.

This picture was taken at Bakersfield Budo. The toy model was sitting on a black shelf with one flash to the left of the model with a full CTB gel bounced and another flash gridded and gelled 1/2 CTO pointed from camera right.

It's been quite a while since my last post. I figured it would be a great time to start a personal project of trying to post a picture a day for 2010. I will try to make them interesting, but more importantly, they will have very little if any post processing.

Here is my first one. Before putting it away for another year, I thought I would get a shot of our Nativity Scene. My wife and I have had this for quite a while.

I recently had the opportunity to photograph the coming home of one our soldiers. His name is SSG. Eddie Gonzales. I hope that he and his beautiful family enjoy their time together.

The Beagles at The Market Place

The Beagles, a Beatles Tribute band, was playing at The Market Place. I thought it would be fun for the family to go see. Apparently, so did a lot of other people! There were plenty of people at the show just over a week ago, all having a great time. The audience had people of all ages, and everyone had a great time.

These girls were dancing up a storm when one of them came and asked me to take a picture of her and her freinds.

The rest of these are some shots I got of the band who did a really good job of covering Beatles songs.

Today I had a photo session with a really cool teenager named Marley. Here are two images I really liked. These don't show it, but she has a great smile which shows in some of the other pics. These two are the only ones I had time to process.

Karate Portraits

I am now doing portraits in a local karate dojo my daughter goes to, Bakersfield Budo. The instructors are really great with kids and offer classes for both kids and adults. If you are looking for something to keep the kids busy, especially with summer coming up, they are really worth checking out.

These are some of the images I from those sessions.

This one was a tough subject, he only had one expression!

Zombie Prom

My son Chris had been working very hard, along with a lot of other kids, on the Bakersfield High School production of Zombie Prom. Those kids put in countless hours on everything to put it on, along with having to keep up with their other responsibilities.

I went to see the play on Friday and have to say it was great!

Relay for Life

I was out at Relay for Life Bakersfield with my son's youth group at St. Philip's, EDGE.

The kids did a great job raising money which helped the Bakersfield Relay for Life event raise more money than any other Relay for Life.

I was able to capture some of the days events. And as a survivor myself, was glad to be a part of the event.

Survivors wore purple shirts. There sure is a
lot of purple in there.

The National Anthem was sung by a woman
with an inspiring survival story.

There were even Super Heroes on
hand for the battle

As night fell, the Luminaria Ceremony took
place.
